H2F – Are you ready to ROCK?!

Posted on Posted in Driving Range, Share Your Pain

Hey H2F,

I’d really enjoy hosting you and your crew here in beautiful Muskoka!

I love this area more than anything and The Rock Golf Course is as beautiful and stunning as it get’s at an affordable price. The Rock opened in 2004 and won the award for best new course in Canada by Golf Digest. The original plan was for The Rock to be a $175+ golf course.. They actually closed for an entire year and rebuilt holes 3, 4, 11, 12, 13 and 16 to help improve the golf course and make it easier for the average player. The course was admittedly very difficult those first couple years and it is something that made it’s way around the golf circles and was a challenging thing to get around.

The last 4 years I have seen an incredible change in this golf course. The conditioning is absolutely magnificent and the golf course has (and continues to be) widened in every place possible to continue to improve this great track and make it easier and more enjoyable for the average player. If golfers play the tees that correspond to their ability it is a fantastic and fair test to golfers of every ability. I have been representing The Rock for the past 3 years and have noticed more and more how excited people are that have played here. It showcases everything that is great about Muskoka Golf. Granite outcroppings, pristine conditioning, tremendous staff and plenty of wildlife.

For accommodations Cleveland’s House Resort is an absolute iconic Muskoka landmark. It opened in 1867 so this is the 150 year anniversary for the resort and they are celebrating that with a massive renovation. It’s a fantastic spot to stay and only a km from the golf course. There are many stay and play packages that are a tremendous bargain to say the least.

A little blurb on myself. I started playing golf in high school and by age 18 I competed my first long drive competition, finishing 2nd to Stewart Young who was the Canadian Champion the year before (back when we actually had a Canadian Championship!) In 1996 I actually qualified for the Remax World Long Drive Championships at the age of 19 and went on to be a semi-finalist that year. 2 weeks after that I performed at my first “exhibition”. From there I went on to compete in 10 Remax World Championships and I developed a trick shot show that I have been performing at golf events worldwide ever since. It’s been quite the ride!

My family has been in Muskoka for well over 100 years. I was a cottager here growing up and have been a full time resident for nearly 11 years now and I will never ever leave. It’s a very special area and I would really enjoy the opportunity to showcase this to your TV show.

I think we could do some really great things with the golf portion incorporating my long drive and trick shot skills and if there are other activities you would like to include there are things like steam ship cruises on the Segwun and Clevelands House runs a Waterski school.

Hope you swing by my way!
